Here are some tips:
Trip Arrangements - BEFORE
- 1. Know the body of water. Scout it, or at least talk with folks who have run it recently.
2. Determine put-ins and take-outs, and GET PERMISSION from liveries and/or landowners. Check about where to leave vehicles, too.
3. If it's a camping or camping-optional trip, make those arrangements with campground, and communicate info to Steve for distribution to group.
4. Pick up SOFA gear at Paddle Power, or communicate with Steve or Dan to do so.
5. Give plan details to Steve at least a month ahead of time so info can be distributed to all members via email and snail-mail.
- 1. Arrive at campground early.
2. Check in with campground office, manage parking tags if needed, etc.
3. Facilitate setting up of campsite, group gear, group fire area, etc.
4. Have and communicate a plan for shuttling, carpooling, etc.
5. Collect and re-distribute (as needed) shared campground fees and shuttle fees. Keep notes - it's easier that way!
6. You're the go-to person for the trip - be available, know what's up (or be willing to go find out).
7. Collect info for Trip Report. A group photo would be great, too!
- 1. Be sure campsite is left in the same or better condition than we found it.
2. Check-out with campground office.
3. Write Trip Report and send to Steve for distribution. Include pictures if you took any.
4. Return any group gear to Paddle Power if it didn't go back with Steve or Dan.
